Forget Work-Life Balance
Forget Work-Life Balance
How can business owners go all-in to succeed in every area of life?
Work-life obsession replaces work-life balance. It’s about going all in—fully committing to your goals with no backup plans or half-measures. Once the decision is made, you cut off all other options and move forward with total focus. This obsessive mentality, when applied to every area of life, drives growth and success. That’s the true goal: winning in all areas.
How can business owners set and achieve goals?
Take the five dimensions—business and finance, family and marriage, health, faith, and lifestyle—and set a goal for each over the next 12 months. Identify what "winning" looks like in each area, and start taking action. It doesn’t have to be a monumental achievement; the key is choosing a direction and moving toward it.
What helps business owners regain clarity and purpose?
Burnout doesn’t exist. What you’re experiencing isn’t burnout; it’s a loss of clarity. You’ve lost sight of why you’re doing what you’re doing and become stuck in the routine of waking up, working, and going to sleep. Without purpose or clarity, your work feels meaningless, which leads to what people call burnout.
How can business owners stay motivated with daily wins?
Winning gives us dopamine hits, boosting our sense of fulfillment. When I follow through on what I commit to, I feel incredible—that’s fulfillment. It doesn’t matter if you’re waking up at 4:30 AM to work out or working toward a big goal like losing weight. If you can find small wins today, you know you’re moving in the right direction. Obsession isn’t just about achieving the goal; it’s about embracing the process.
When should business owners use reminders to stay organized?
Relying on memory alone to remember something every day at 5 a.m. is unrealistic. Self-awareness is key—I know I need assistance. Organization includes setting reminders. When the reminder pops up, I take the moment to reflect genuinely: What happened yesterday? What did my wife do? How can I affirm her?
