How I Grew 7 Franchises to $1M+ in Revenue Before 30
What made you willing to leave comfort and stability in pursuit of entrepreneurial freedom?
It wasn’t so much a decision to leave as it was a mindset I had from the start. When I got the job, I knew it was temporary. To tie it back, I had experiences between the ages of 17 and 20 where I was exposed to entrepreneurial thinking. I read books, had mentors, and began to understand what it meant to have the freedom to do my own thing. That desire for autonomy aligned perfectly with what I wanted as a kid. Back then, I wanted to make money because I didn’t have any, but what I really wanted was the freedom to create my own path.
How can business owners secure bank loans for new or early-stage businesses?
The hardest part was getting the bank to approve the loan. Banks typically don’t issue loans to businesses within their first year because they want to see a history of success. Fortunately, in my first six months, I had built a strong track record, and since it was a franchise, the bank found it more appealing. The next business I wanted to buy was already established with a solid track record. Having proven myself in those initial six months, the bank decided to take a chance, and I’m grateful they did.
What are the essential components business owners must manage for success?
The first thing that comes to mind are the four key elements of any business: marketing, sales, operations, and finance. There may be other frameworks or expanded versions, but almost everything can be grouped under these four areas. You need leads—people interested in your product. Then you need a predictable sales process to guide them to a decision. After that, you must deliver on what you promised. Finally, you need to manage the money—not just receive it but organize and account for it properly to avoid financial issues.
What drives business owners to set and achieve clear goals?
Everything starts with one core principle: desire. Without desire, nothing else matters. This is the foundation upon which all other principles are built. Desire leads to a definite chief aim, and from there, it drives all the other essential steps. The mastermind principle, for instance, helps us move forward toward achieving what we want, but it all begins with a strong and clear desire.
Why should business owners shift their focus from daily tasks to strategic planning?
I never found satisfaction in the tactical tasks themselves, only in the feeling of staying busy. When I had to shift my focus to working on the business, my mindset changed. It was no longer about where I was going or what I was physically doing each day. Instead, it became about what I was orchestrating, organizing, planning, or thinking ahead for.
