How can business owners effectively manage their energy and time?

You know yourself best. The key is to manage your energy in a way that works for you. If hustling helps you manage your energy effectively, then, by all means, hustle. For some, the idea of working while others sleep, constantly staying ahead, becomes a kind of mantra. And if that works for you, that's great.

But I encourage you to consider that there may be another way. One approach is to manage your energy by creating a framework in your life. When you establish a framework, you gain something incredibly valuable: time. Time is our greatest asset, yet we often give it away freely without much thought. We tend to manage our finances more carefully than we do our time.

When you reclaim your time, you start to clear your mind. And I often ask people, "Is your mind busy?" In a room full of people, everyone’s hand would go up. Your mind is busy, my mind is busy—we all deal with this.

How can entrepreneurs lessen the chaos they may create?

As a visionary and a doer, you make a significant impact in your industry and the world. You're the one who gets things done. But the downside is that you may leave chaos in your wake, affecting not only your company but also those close to you—your spouse, significant other, or children. They may feel unsettled because they can't keep up with your pace.

You belong to a very small minority of people who operate this way, so it's important to recognize this part of yourself. Once you bring awareness to it, you can make adjustments in that moment between stimulus and response. These adjustments can bring more peace and reduce chaos, aligning you better with your desired framework for life.

How can business owners live in clarity rather than chaos?

It all starts with being clear about who you are and why you're doing what you do in life. You want to win in all areas, but the reality is, you won't win in everything. The universe has a way of interfering with our plans, but that doesn't mean you've lost. Every moment is a lesson.

When we're in chaos, it often means we lack peace and clarity. You might feel anxious or out of control. These are signs of chaos. What you really want is peace and clarity, and that starts with having a strong foundation in how you live your life. This is where the 10 disciplines come in, providing a framework for building that foundation. With this in place, you gain more time and a clearer mind, allowing you to recognize chaos as it arises and stop it.

How can business owners avoid making fear-based decisions?

Most decisions are made from fear. For example, ask yourself, "Whose dream am I pursuing?" If you're focused on outside success—like looking at other companies in your industry and thinking, "That's where I need to be"—you might be making fear-based decisions. You might believe there’s a payoff to reaching that level, but it might not align with what you truly want.

With 10-year thinking, you may find you want a different type of company, one that brings you peace and the success you truly desire, not the success you think you should aim for. It's important to realize that accumulating things—houses, cars, trips—is meaningless to others. People care about who you are and your character, not your possessions.

However, there's nothing wrong with wanting nice things; financial success often comes as a result of hard work. It's about managing that drive correctly. When you make decisions from love and from your heart, they align with how you want to live your life with 10-year thinking. This alignment brings inner peace, helping you handle chaos and challenges—whether in business or personal life—more calmly and effectively.

Why is it important to have a long-term vision of your life?

When you become clear about what you want your life to look like 10 years from now, it's not about setting specific goals—it's about envisioning your future. When you have that vision, you align your actions today to match it. You ask yourself, "What do I want? Does this align with my vision?" This helps keep you on track and focused, like a North Star guiding you forward.

How can pursuing interests outside of business lead to a greater impact?

With a clear mind, you'll generate better ideas, find better solutions, experience more peace, and have the potential to change your industry, your company, and even the world. You'll make a greater impact than you ever imagined. You may not yet realize what you're capable of, but a rejuvenated mind and body are essential to achieving this. It's important to exercise that "muscle" by exploring other interests beyond business. I encourage you to write down 10 things outside of business that you are passionate about and could spend hours doing, and then start pursuing them.
